Thank You
Thank you to the Van Meter Elementary Parents Committee for months of planning and many hours of work preparing for the Elementary Carnival. Special thanks to Kim Bardwell, Kris Koster, Dawn Coppinger, Melanie Smith and Jodie Beach for their efforts in coordinating this event. Thanks also to the area businesses, staff members, parents and students for volunteering and supporting the Carnival.
Thank you to the VMEPC and Michele Pille for providing supper for teachers during Conferences.
Thank you to Jayme Murillo for painting the great mural surrounding our Elementary Library door.

Scholastic Book Fair is March 3 – 8. Please consider stopping by the Elementary Library while at Parent/Teacher Conferences. In addition to a great selection of books, it is a major fundraiser for our elementary library. There is a wish list of books that you can purchase for classroom libraries.

Boxtops for Education Thanks to our parents for sending in Boxtops for Education. It will be paying for the Old Creamery Theater program.

Brittany Marks Creates Tiles for Positive Behavior Supports Program
I am a sophomore at Van Meter School and I am in a group called FCCLA: Family, Community and Career Leaders of America. For this group, we had an option to do a Star Event. The Star Event is just a project that you can choose from different catagories. The category I chose to do was Focus on Children. For this, I need to plan and conduct a child development project that has a positive impact on children and the community. I chose to have third grade student make tiles explaining the Bulldog Beliefs: Respect, Responsibility and Safety. Each third grade student made their own individual tile and they drew someone doing something from the Bulldog Beliefs. I then put all of the tiles on some wood and it was showcased for the school. It is currently in the display case across from the Elementary Library. I really enjoyed doing this project with all of the third grade students and I thank them very much for doing an excellent job!

Attendance
Student attendance is very important at Van Meter School. Teachers prepare lessons so that the material is taught in sequential order, so it is difficult for students to grasp the material when they are frequently absent. We understand that students must stay home when they are ill. We request that parents schedule vacations during Spring Break and not on school days. We appreciate your support as we work to provide the best educational environment for students.

Snacks: Please send healthy snacks to school for snack break
Before/After School Students should not be here before 8:00 and should be picked up or promptly leave the school at 3:25
